Lamisah joins the PPMD team as a Volunteer Coordinator. She is currently attending Howard Community College part-time with hopes of graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing. In the past school year, she worked to ensure the health and safety of children from grades K-5 as a nursing assistant apprentice at Fulton Elementary School. Following her experience, she received certification as a Nursing Assistant. As a middle child in a big family of 10, she enjoys working with children whether that be through community volunteer work for summer camps and extracurricular activities or through work-related projects. She has a 22-year-old brother with global developmental delay. Growing up together and witnessing the hardship of finding resources and support, going through ups and downs of the transition phase from a child with a disability to an adult with disability, inspired her to expand her knowledge and experience in understanding and committing to improving care and support by spreading information for children with disabilities and their families. She hopes to serve and make a difference in her community every step of the way throughout both her career and academic journey.
