This document, Guidance for IEP Teams Working with Students with the Most Significant Cognitive Disabilities, serves as a resource for Local Education Agency (LEA) and Public Agency leaders and educators who participate in the development, implementation, and evaluation of Individualized Education Programs for students with significant cognitive disabilities. The collaborative efforts of general and special educators, related service providers, other education professionals, and families are required to plan, deliver, and assess specially designed instruction that meets these students’ unique needs, to support their access to and progress in the curriculum, and to prepare them for success after high school in college, career, and community.
